BURLINGTON, Mass. --April 5, 2000-- BizLand, Inc., the leading Internet hub for small business, today announced the appointment of two vice presidents. Mark De Binder has been named Vice President of Business Development and Scott Dunphy has been appointed Vice President of Marketing. While both gentlemen hail from diverse professional backgrounds, their individual skill sets significantly enhance the BizLand.com management team. "The race is on to aggregate and service the explosive online small business market. The addition of Mark and Scott to the BizLand.com team moves us into an even higher gear," said Steve Sydness, CEO of BizLand.com. In his new role as Vice President of Business Development, Mr. De Binder will be responsible for developing and executing the long term commerce strategy for BizLand.com, expanding the array of value-added member products and services, and building its existing membership of 250,000 businesses. "I'm looking forward to sharing the BizLand.com vision and helping to shape the future of one of the hottest Internet communities in the market today," Mr. De Binder stated. Mr. De Binder brings more than 18 years of sales, marketing, and business development expertise to BizLand.com. He has been instrumental in transforming product and business concepts into mature and profitable enterprises at companies including Open Market, Wang Microsystems, Wang Software, and Brown & Associates. Most recently, Mr. De Binder directed Business Development and Strategic Partnering at Open Market, Inc. where, in October 1999, he led the acquisition of FutureTense, Inc. In addition, Scott Dunphy has joined the BizLand.com management team as Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Dunphy will be responsible for developing marketing programs and advertising strategies, expanding direct on-line and off-line marketing efforts and building brand awareness and equity. With a decade of business experience, Mr. Dunphy has demonstrated a creative business perspective, specializing in the development of marketing programs to identify, acquire and retain a company's most valuable customers. After positions with American Airlines AAdvantage Program, Mr. Dunphy joined Continental Airlines to direct the strategies and marketing efforts of the Continental Airlines OnePass frequent flyer program. More recently, as Director of Partner and Membership Marketing for Continental Mr. Dunphy significantly expanded Continental's partnership network, including the launch of Continental's co-branded credit card and debit card with Chase Manhattan Bank. "Similar to the strategies utilized in the airline's industry's frequent flyer programs, we will develop a strong relationship with our BizLand.com members, improving their business success through valuable products and services offered by our partners," Mr. Dunphy reported.
