Sr. Network / Security Engineer
|
We are seeking a Sr. Network / Security Engineer to be located in our Burlington, Massachusetts office. The successful candidate will work with the Senior Director of Network Operations.
Responsibilities:
As the Sr. Network / Security Engineer you will be responsible for the Management, architecture, implementation, of Enterprise level software, service architecture, and carrier class equipment in a large scale data center environment. Additionally you will have supervisory responsibilities over Jr. and Mid level Engineers.
Primary functions:
- Architect, implement, and manage network configurations, including Foundry, Cisco switches and routers, Juniper firewalls, F5 BigIP load balancers, and related technologies.
- Respond to network and application performance or functionality issues, bringing protocol-level understanding to the analysis of complex, interdependent systems.
- Work with network users to understand requirements; propose configurations and architectures meeting those requirements in an effective manner.
- Recommend and implement new technologies to mature the network management infrastructure including monitoring systems, security products and technologies, and the like.
- Architect, implement, and manage / monitor network security, define network security architecture both at the edge as well as internal networks, including IDS/IPS & Firewall.
- Document network / security configurations and architectures, and effectively communicate future plans to appropriate stakeholders.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation in support of the Constant Contact network and systems.
Additional Job Functions:
Supervisor of Jr. and Mid level Network Engineers.
Qualifications:
- Min of 7-10 years of Network Engineering experience, including experience at a rapidly growing organization.
- Broad understanding of IP protocols, at all layers of the stack.
- Comfort in reading and interpreting packet captures, including an understanding of TCP/IP internals and HTTP and/or SMTP protocol exchanges.
- Extensive experience with WAN and LAN engineering, including BGP, spanning tree, firewalls, load balancers, and related technology.
- Ability to train others on technical and procedural topics.
- Strong Experience with Unix/Linux system administration.
- Deep Understanding and best practices of network security issues, including management of IDS systems, firewalls, etc.
- Strong technical skills in web hosting environment enabling you to understand issues and drive solutions.
