Transferring Files with CuteFTP, p .2

You can transfer files from the local side, which is on the left side, to the remote side, which is on the right side, or from the remote side to the local side. The easiest way to complete the transfer is to double click the file you wish to transfer. Double clicking the file will automatically send a copy from the originating side to the receiving side. In most cases, you will be transferring files from the local side to the remote side. You could also select your file and drag it from one window to the other instead of double clicking. You will continue to do this until you have transferred all your files. You will see the files appear in the remote side as you transfer them from the local side.

The local side of the screen shows the list of files in C:\My Documents folder. The Name column shows the name of the file. The Size column gives the size of each file. The Date column shows the last date the file was modified. The Time column shows the time the file was last modified.

If you have not yet loaded any files to your account, the remote side will be empty. Notice that the location bar has / as the location. This is your root directory. You must put your index.html file in your root directory and not in a subdirectory. In this example you can see subdirectories shown as folders.

This bar tracks the status of all your transfers. The example above shows that the file Contact.txt was successfully received from the remote side to the local side. This bar is also important to watch because it will display error messages if they occur. Should you encounter an error while using FTP, you should copy the error message EXACTLY as it appears and send it to support@bizland-inc.com. It is also very important that you include your username in your messages so the support team can immediately address your issue.
